Six officially join race for seat in Congress

Six area residents, three Democrats and three Republicans, have officially joined the race to represent the 3rd Congressional District in Washington, D.C.

On Monday, the first day candidates could file their formal intent to seek office, Republican Kerry Bowers and Democrat Alex Singer file papers with the Clark County Election Department.

On Tuesday, Democrat Jackie Rosen and Republican Annette Teijeiro joined the race.

Rounding out the field as of Wednesday were Republican Michele Fiore and Democrat Barry Michaels.

They are vying to replace Republican incumbent Joe Heck, who has decided to run for the Senate seat of retiring U.S. Democratic Sen. Harry Reid.

Candidates have until March 18 to officially file to run in the June 14 primary.

City Celebrates First Responders
Photos courtesy City of Boulder City Last week, the city held its annual awards night in which police officers and firefighters are recognized with awards for their accomplishments over the prior year. Awards included those for a trio of lifesaving awards for members of BCFD as well as commendations and the chief’s award and firefighter of the year, which went to Jason Dardano. For the BCPD, awards included letters of commendation, meritorious service awards and volunteer of the year awards.
