Seen on Scene: At Emergency Aid of Boulder City’s Angel Tree

David Ortiz picked out toys and other gifts for his daughter from Emergency Aid of Boulder City’s Angel Tree program Saturday. Toys, books, hats and bikes were donated by groups and residents from the Boulder City community for those in need this holiday season.

Every year, for the past 16 years, Emergency Aid of Boulder City has sponsored the Angel Tree gift program, which, with the help of dozens of volunteers and the community, gets toys and gifts to families in need in Boulder City.

For the past six months, Garrett Junior High Principal Melanie Teemant has been battling breast cancer. And while she’s winning, she realizes she still has a ways to go.

That time of the year

Saturday, a good crowd turned out for the annual Harvest Festival hosted by Christian Center Church. The event featured a pumpkin patch, games for the kids, live music, vendors and free food. Proceeds from the fest helps pay for children to attend youth camps.

Last Tuesday night, hundreds turned out for the city’s annual National Night Out at Veterans Memorial Park.
