Members of the Boulder City High School girls varsity basketball team have been getting their holiday spirit into shape in preparation for serving as elves aboard the Santa Train for the Nevada State Railroad Museum.

The Hacienda Hotel and Casino hosted two chili cook-offs during the Thanksgiving weekend, raising more than $1,570 for Emergency Aid of Boulder City.
Candy-covered creations will help herald in the holiday season while helping raise funds for those in need.

Nov. 14 was recognized as Lend A Hand Day by Mayor Roger Tobler in a proclamation presented at the organization’s 24th annual dinner honoring volunteers. Peggy Leavitt, a board member and city councilwoman, made the presentation.
