T he monthly safety briefing to be held at the Senior Center of Boulder City for May will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday prior to the serving of the midday meal. Anyone is welcome to attend and listen to this brief update of the most current trends we are seeing and hearing about in our small town.

April is National Occupational Therapy Month. The profession of occupational therapy makes valuable contributions in helping people “live life to its fullest” after an illness or injury. If you have ever been in a situation in which you were physically unable to complete your daily tasks, an occupational therapist can help.

Dispatch answers calls for the police, fire and medical departments at all hours every day of the week. We also take calls for water, sewer and electrical emergencies during off hours. We have four incoming lines and two 911 lines along with two continuous radio channels and a citizen lobby area. Much of the time there is only one dispatcher manning the helm.
We have all had the experience of someone spreading rumors about us or distorting the truth about something we have been involved in. Do you remember how it felt? The truth is rarely as interesting as an embellished version of a story.
Although it may still be a little chilly outside, every poolgoer knows that summer is creeping around the corner. As the weather starts to warm up you start to get the itch to dive into that crystal cool water in your swimming pool, and what a fantastic way to keep cool and beat the summer heat.

Crimes are frequently solved as a result of a partnership between the community and its police department. This partnership is vital in keeping our community safe from criminals who look to take advantage of our citizens.
A group of scientists is applying for a grant to study asbestos in Boulder City and if it gets the money it will be relocating to the arid Southern Nevada desert and digging for answers as early as next spring.
It’s a sort of cruel prank by Mother Nature that the same colorful, aromatic blooms that speckle the desert greenery during spring are stripping people of their senses of smell and making their eyes scratchy and swollen.
