Making a Statement

Artist John Banks’ sculpture literally attracts attention to the Boulder City Public Art Scape project that showcases original works of art on the city’s streets. The nonprofit group, which is winding down its efforts, will hold its final fundraiser, A Taste for the Arts, at 6 p.m. Friday at Boulder Creek Golf Course Pavilion, 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive. Proceeds from the gala, which includes silent and live auctions along with food tastings and music, help underwrite the costs of displaying new pieces each year and adding to the city’s growing collection. Board member Darlene Burk says it is hoped that enough money will be raised to change out the art on display one more time.
