Airport Day set for Nov. 7

It’s almost that time again for aviation buffs to come out to the Boulder City Airport.

The city’s Airport Day is set for takeoff on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Aviation serves a variety of needs from a unique hobby to important transportation,” said Marissa Adou, Boulder City Airport manager, in a release. “We are committed to providing the best possible experience for those who use our airport. I hope Airport Day fosters a new generation of pilots, mechanics, avionics and other roles in the aviation industry.”

Some may be surprised to learn that the airport is ranked the third busiest airport in Nevada as many people come to fly out to the see Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon.

Adou said her staff is excited to host Airport Day every year, giving people of all ages an opportunity to learn more about aircraft, flying and the businesses that make our airport a success. Admission is free. Visitors can buy food and beverages, visit unique aircraft displays, meet pilots and aviation professionals, and even take flight. Young Eagles will be giving free flights to kids ages 8-17 (registration is available the day of the event).

The event had taken a hiatus for a few years, and returned in 2024 to much fanfare from the general aviation community.

Papillon Helicopters is taking attendees on a six-minute helicopter flight to see the airport from the sky.

“Papillon Helicopters is excited to welcome guests to Boulder City Airport and give them the opportunity to experience Airport Day from a whole new perspective,” said Jake Tomlin, president and CEO of Papillon Helicopters. “These flights offer a unique bird’s-eye view of the airport and all the activity taking place throughout the day. Whether it’s your first flight or you’ve flown in a helicopter several times before, it’s a memorable way to be part of this great community event.”

Cost is $75. Advance registration can be done at www.papillon.com/ppcl/boulder-city-airport-day.
