Grace Christian Academy in Boulder City recently held its annual spelling bee. Champions of the school spelling bee are eligible to complete in the Association of Christian Schools International’s Las Vegas District Spelling Bee in Henderson in January.
School champions are: Moses WainWright, first grade; Alesshia Reinhart, second grade; Everynn Andrade, third grade; Jack Ferrence, fourth grade; and Dillon Calton, fifth grade.
During the last 20 years, the Dam Short Film Festival has gained in popularity and is considered one of the best of its kind.

Walking my dogs around the neighborhood, early in the morning to beat the heat, I’ve noticed residents being mindful of water usage, taking steps to conserve in multiple ways. Several homes within a six-block radius have removed or are in the process of replacing their grass with desertscape (xeriscape) or artificial grass. Early morning watering schedules are being adhered to – before 9 a.m., for optimal lawn health and water conservation.
