Amber Oliver and Tara Spinkelink, members of the girls basketball team at Boulder City High School, were among those who volunteered to serve as elves on the Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum this year. The girls volunteered as pairs, with each set providing seven hours of time to listen to Christmas wishes and help entertain the riders. Team members volunteer with other events throughout the year, including Boulder City Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual Wurstfest.

Each year, the Clark County School District’s Department of Demographics and Zoning creates an enrollment projection for each school. The money that schools use to hire new teachers and purchase supplies over the summer is based on that student enrollment projection.
