Kelly named to honor roll at Spokane Falls college

Patricia Kelly was named to the fall 2014 honor roll list at Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane, Wash. To receive honor roll status, students must earn a 3.0 grade point average or higher.

Community Colleges of Spokane is a 12,300-square-mile state community college district that includes Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community College and six rural education sites.

Lobkowicz named to dean’s list at Norwich University

John Ryan Lobkowicz of Boulder City has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.

Norwich University offers bachelors and graduate degrees to traditional-age students and adults in a corps of cadets and as civilians. It was founded in 1819 by Capt. Alden Partridge of the U.S. Army and is the oldest private military college in the United States.

It is one of the nation’s six senior military colleges and the birthplace of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.

Former principal named to NIAA Hall of Fame

Bill Garis, who served as principal and athletic administrator at Boulder City High School from 1993 to 2000, will be one of eight people inducted into the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s Hall of Fame this February.

In addition to his time at BCHS, Garis worked at Basic, Indian Springs and Sierra Vista high schools, as well as for Clark County School District. He was a founding member of NIAA’s sportsmanship committee and was named Nevada’s Principal of the Year in 1999.

The Class of 2015 features two administrators/directors, two athletes, three coaches and one official. Also to be honored are Tim Dailey, William Evans, Jeff “J.D.” Fraser, Robert Kelly, Alan La Rocque, Greg Maddux and Jimmy May.

The induction ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Feb. 26 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Tickets to the ceremony are $35 each.

King students experience Starbase
