Wednesday Story Time will return to the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., in July. Call Kimberly Diehm, youth services librarian, at 293-1281 for more information.
■ Today, family story time about pyramids will be at 7 p.m. There will be science, crafts, games, Legos and stories about these ancient wonders. Open to all ages.
■ Library will host a treasure hunt at 3 p.m. Friday for kids 7 and up in the community room.
■ The movie of the month “Transformers,” will be shown at 1 p.m. Saturday in the community room. The 2007 movie is 144 minutes and rated PG-13.
■ Craft hour “Pet Rocks!” will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the community room. Open to all ages.
■ Dinosaur Club’s first meeting, Dino Fun, is at 3p.m. Wednesday. Club is for kids 7 and up who dig dinosaurs.
■ Lego challenge returns at 4 p.m. June 27 in the community room. Event for ages 7 and up.
Homestead to hold workshops, support groups
The Homestead announces a series of eight workshops aimed at educating the public on aging, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
The workshops will be led by Mary Shapiro, gerontologist and author. All workshops take place at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at The Homestead, 1401 Medical Park Drive. The next workshop is “Progression of the Disease: What to Expect” on June 20.
The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets at 11:30 a.m., followed by the Memory Loss Support Group at 1 p.m. All workshops and support groups are free.
Library hosting tech seminar of eBooks
The library staff will show how to check out eBooks from the library and put them on you eReader at 1:30 p.m. today. Bring an eReader for practice. The library is at 701 Adams Blvd.
Elks Lodge hosting free children’s carnival Saturday
The Boulder City Elks Lodge is hosting a free children’s carnival with games and prizes noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot behind the building, 1217 Nevada Highway. Free food and soft drinks for the kids of all ages available. A bounce house with slide, and a dunk tank will be there. Contact Karen Murray at the Elks Lodge at 293-2457 for more information.
American Legion serves breakfast Thursdays
The public is invited to the American Legion’s breakfast at 7 a.m. Thursdays at the American Legion Hall, 508 California Way, between Boulder Bowl and Grace Church Academy. Legionnaires and all eligible veterans are invited to the American Legion meeting at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the hall. Call Cmdr. Wayne Curtis at 293-6622 for more information.
Free FOA concert Saturday
Friends of the Arts will host a free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the library amphitheater, 701 Adams Blvd. Laura Shaffer will be singing standards from the ’40s and ’50s. Bring lawn chairs if you don’t want to sit on the grass.
Nevada State Railroad Museum open weekends
For a larger-than-life train ride, bring the family to the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 600 Yucca St. The train leaves the station at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday. It’s “all aboard” 15 minutes before departure. Adult fare is $10, children 4 through 11 are $5 and 3 and younger are free.
Youth football sign-ups scheduled for Tuesday
The fall season of Boulder City youth football will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the multipurpose building between the high school and municipal pool. Fees are $115 for 8-man weighted (ages 5-12) and 11-man unweighted (junior high). Equipment is not included in the price. ID required. STOP DUI event scheduled June 28 at Senior Center
STOP DUI co-founder and Executive Director Sandy Heverly will speak at 6:30 p.m. June 28 at the Senior Center, 813 Arizona St. Event is free and open to the public but ages 11-18 are especially encouraged to attend. STOP DUI is a Nevada grass-roots nonprofit group dedicated to stopping driving under the influence and to assisting victims. A video of this year’s “Every 15 Minutes” at Boulder City High will be shown. All attendees receive a free drawing ticket for a chance to win gift cards from local restaurants and businesses.
Free family concert June 29
Friends of the Arts will host a family friendly free concert at 7 p.m. June 29 at the library amphitheater, 701 Adams Blvd. Arizona-based Talent Team Performing Arts youth group will perform “Totality — Americana Tour.” Bring lawn chairs if you don’t want to sit on the grass.
Senior Center open house
The Senior Center, 813 Arizona St., will hold an open house 6:30 p.m. July 1. Staff, volunteers and board members will discuss new programs and give tours of the facility. Free hot dogs and lemonade will be served.
Library running adult summer reading program
The library is hosting its summer adult reading program “Groundbreaking Reads” for readers 16 and older. Read a book that was groundbreaking to you, then tell the library why.
Enter as many books as you would like for drawings throughout the summer.

Grace Christian expands to new offerings
Grace Christian Academy, 512 California Ave., is accepting registration for its combined sixth/seventh grade class. Registration continues for grades K-5. Hospital gift shop, long-term care seek volunteers
The Boulder City Hospital Auxiliary is seeking volunteers to work in the Goldie Begley Gift Shoppe and in long-term care.

Emergency Aid seeking energetic volunteers
Emergency Aid, 600 Nevada Highway, needs volunteers to work in the office and pantry. People skills are a necessity, but computer skills are not. Office volunteers work one or two mornings a week.
Pantry workers can pick a few hours during the week. Emergency Aid also is looking for people who have a truck and are willing to pick up deliveries to the pantry, or a pantry assistant to stock produce.
Help also is needed checking in clients. Office and pantry hours are 9 a.m. to noon. Call 293-0332 to make an appointment.
RPEN meets fourth Thursday
Retired Public Employees of Nevada meet at 11 a.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at The Homestead of Boulder City, 1401 Medical Park Drive. Members go to lunch after each meeting at a different local restaurant. Call Bernard at 294-0636 for further information.
VFW meets second Saturday

Democratic Club’s monthly meeting set for July 11
The Boulder City Democratic Club’s monthly meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at the library, 701 Adams Blvd.
State Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, will provide an analysis of the recently completed state legislative session. The event is open to the public.
