Relay honors cancer survivors
March 26, 2014 - 12:46 pm
Cancer survivors in Boulder City are invited to a special survivor celebration during the April 25-26 Relay for Life that supports the American Cancer Society. In addition, the event pays tribute to those who lost their battle with cancer.
Relay for Life is an overnight community event where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue and walk or run around a track “relay” style to fight cancer. Funds raised support cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services in Southern Nevada.
Cancer survivors are invited to celebrate their triumph over cancer by participating in an inspirational survivors’ lap, which opens the Relay for Life. Following their lap, a dinner will be held in their honor. Survivors are invited to bring their caregiver or a guest to join them.
All survivors can preregister for dinner at www.relayforlife.org or by contacting Lisa at 702-237-7926.
In preparation for the Relay for Life, a fundraiser will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Chilly Jilly’z, 1680 Nevada Highway. During the evening event, the restaurant will donate 15 percent of all sales.
This year’s main event will begin at 6 p.m. April 25 at Boulder City High School and conclude at 6 a.m. April 26.
