GoatFeathers’ owner to sell, lease business

The owner of GoatFeathers and GoatFeathers Too, which closed suddenly Dec. 8, said he is considering selling or leasing the businesses.

“All options for selling GoatFeathers and leasing of GoatFeathers Too will be reviewed in earnest,” said Dr. Wendell Butler of Las Vegas.

Butler, who reiterated that closing the businesses was not his decision, said in an email late Thursday that he is “confident that the circumstances surrounding the company financial accounting will be fully illuminated in time.”

GoatFeathers’ former manager, Cheryl Myers, said she closed the businesses because of financial difficulties, including trouble paying the vendors for items sold on consignment, after Butler transferred $20,000 out of a GoatFeathers’ bank account to fund a new medical practice.

The stores’ employees were supposed to receive paychecks Wednesday, which were sent by courier to a central location, she said. On Tuesday and Wednesday, he provided about $8,000 to cover those checks, which supposedly came out of his medical practice, Myers said.

However, he still owes vendors and employees an undisclosed amount of money.

“He’s is not following through with what he has promised to do,” Myers said.

Butler closed his message saying, “I would like to again thank all the customers, local residents and my dedicated staff who supported GoatFeathers over the last eight years.”
