Police Blotter

May 9, 4:11 p.m.

A woman reported that she had received a package in the mail that she thought had drugs in it. Upon arrival, the officer found a miniature bag containing a white powdery substance. The substance was then destroyed.

May 9, 5:25 p.m.

Officers received a report of a very intoxicated subject walking into traffic. The officer moved the subject to a hospital after the subject reported feeling like passing out.

May 10, 8:58 p.m.

Officers received a report that a dumpster behind the old Bank of America was on fire. When the fire department arrived on the scene, they found a dumpster with a small rubbish fire behind it. No hazards remained on the scene, and all the units were cleared.

May 11, 1:05 p.m.

An 18-wheeler trying to make a U-turn knocked out a traffic light, and all the lights were not working. The lights were fixed and functioning again two hours later at 3:06 p.m.

May 11, 6:29 p.m

Officers received a report that a white man and a white woman were taking a large amount of mail from mailboxes. Both were their mid-20s. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate the subjects.

May 11, 11:45 p.m.

A caller reported that there was a possible downed aircraft at the airport as an emergency beacon was set off and reported to other pilots. The aircraft was supposedly down in the area between the Boulder City airport and Henderson. Officers reported that there were no visible sightings of the downed aircraft. They then headed toward Buchanan Boulevard in an attempt to locate it.

May 12, 12:06 p.m.

Officers received a report from a postal official, who said one of his drivers was chased back into his vehicle by an aggressive brown dog. He was not injured and managed to get back into his vehicle and close the door before the dog got him.

May 12, 3:33 p.m.

Someone reported that there was a mother duck and seven ducklings in the driveway and didn’t know what to do with them. Upon arrival, the officer was not able to catch them and called animal control.

May 13, 9:17 a.m.

Officers received a report that a “desert tortoise larger than a dinner plate” was on a patio. The residents kept him in a container so they would know where he was and animal control was notified.

May 14, 9:35 a.m.

Officers received a report that someone had been stabbed. The call was disconnected, and upon investigation officers found both the suspect and the victim. An ambulance arrived for the victim, who was taken to Boulder City Hospital.

Elections with love

I was happy to see that Boulder City is going to have an election that provides time for both communicating as well as understanding. It is unresolved until Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Choices for city council should never be ignored or hurried. Our duty as citizens is to objectively apply the best information we have to decide for whom to vote.
