Doubles teams lift Lady Eagles

Sitting with a 3-2-1 record, Boulder City High School girls tennis rebounded nicely after tying with rival Moapa Valley 9-9 on Sept. 3, crushing 4A Silverado 15-3 on Sept. 8.

Defeating the Skyhawks soundly, the doubles tandems of Lyla Gunson and Chelsie Larson and Harmony Cook and Quinn Gibson each finished 3-0.

In singles play, Audrey Humphrey and Abrina Soares each finished 3-0, while Brooklyn Koster finished 1-0.

Tying with the Pirates 9-9 on the road, Larson and Koster teamed up in doubles to finish 3-0, while Cook and Gibson finished 2-1.

In singles play, Humphrey and Soares each finished 2-1.

Looking to build a winning streak, the Eagles will host Lake Mead Christian Academy today, followed by a match with Coral Academy on Tuesday.

Football

Unable to keep pace with 4A Clark, Boulder City High School football suffered a 41-6 defeat on Sept. 4 on the road.

Doing his best to keep the Eagles offensive afloat, Logan Swint completed 6-16 passing for 93 yards, connecting with Ghavyn Cartier for an 11-yard touchdown.

Cartier finished with three catches for 51 yards, while Swint had 38 yards rushing on five carries.

Defensively, Otis Ruth led the way with eight tackles, while Josh Miller added seven tackles and Cody Aten added four tackles with a sack.

Looking to get back in the win column, the Eagles will prep this week for a home match-up with 4A Sierra Vista on Sept. 18.

Cross country

Competing at the Palo Verde Labor Day Classic at Desert Breeze Park, Boulder City High School boys cross country star Caleb Wolfe finished fifth out of 132 runners in the underclassman race, while Zoey Hayes took 47th out of 84 runners in the girls underclassman race.

Competing against 25 programs, the Classic was made up of majority 5A and 4A programs.

Off this week, the Eagles will prep for a home run at Veterans Memorial Park on Sept. 19 when they host the Silver State 3K.

Girls golf

Winning yet another league match to start the season, Boulder City High School girls golf cruised past the competition at Casablanca on Sept. 3.

In a league of their own, the Eagles had a total team score of 350, followed by The Meadows (413) and Virgin Valley (416).

Leading the way, Emmerson Hinds finished first on the day with a total score of 72, while Morgen Terrill took fourth with a score of 91.

Makenzie Martorano (93) and Ashlyn Ruter (94) finished fifth and sixth on the day to round out the dominant effort.

The Eagles’ next match will be today at Coyote Springs.
