Stankovic scores five goals in victory

Boulder City High School girls soccer advanced to 2-0 on the season, defeating rival Virgin Valley 5-3 on Aug. 19.

Carrying the Eagles to victory, Lila Stankovic delivered the performance of a lifetime, scoring all five goals.

“Lila played an incredible game,” head coach Kristen Shelton said. “She was fearless and confident on the field which ultimately led to the win.”

Helping out on the defensive end, Hannah Stark and Malley Jobin each made four steals, while Susan Muir tallied three steals.

In the net, Reese Pusko made five saves.

Looking to keep their winning streak alive, the Eagles will host The Meadows on Tuesday.

Boys soccer

Playing Cheyenne in a pair of games this past week, Boulder City High School boys soccer advanced to 1-1-1 on the season.

Picking up a 1-1 tie with Cheyenne on Aug. 20, the Eagles rallied on Aug. 24 for their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory.

Leading the Eagles to victory, Ian Shelton and Andrea Civinini each scored goals.

Civinini drove the ball to the net on an unassisted goal, while Shelton scored the second goal of the game on a penalty.

In the Eagles’ tie with Cheyenne, Shelton scored on a free kick.

Looking to keep the early season momentum alive, the Eagles will travel to rival Virgin Valley on Monday.

Tennis

Defeating rival Virgin Valley in dominant fashion, both Boulder City High School tennis programs cruised to victory on Aug. 20.

The girls picked up a 15-3 victory.

Brooklyn Koster, Abrina Soares and Audrey Humphrey all finished 3-0 in singles play. In doubles play, the tandem of Chelsi Larson and Lyla Gunson finished 3-0, along with the tandem of Harmony Cook and Quinn Gibson.

For the boys, in a 14-4 victory, Jake Richards and Nathan Law each ended 2-0 in singles play, while Kellan Gross finished 1-0. In doubles, Will Teeples and Miles Alder finished 2-0. Looking to remain undefeated, the Eagles will host Clark on Tuesday.

Girls golf

Boulder City High School girls golf looked like they were clicking on all cylinders in their season-opening match at Boulder Creek on Aug. 20.

Playing on their home course, the Eagles had a total team score of 325, followed by The Meadows (390) and Virgin Valley (437).

Leading the way, Emmerson Hinds finished first on the day with a total score of 70, while Makenzie Martorano finished third with a score of 79.

Morgen Terrill (84) and Ashlyn Ruter (92) finished fourth and fifth on the day to round out the dominant effort.

The Eagles’ next match will be on Sept. 3 at Casablanca.
