Guild to hold annual winter art show
Boulder City Art Guild will present its 11th annual Winter ArtFest ON Saturday and Sunday in the gym at the Parks and Recreation Department, 900 Arizona St.
The show will include a range of art and gifts by Southwestern artists, including original paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramic, glass, pottery and metal.
The festivities also will include a pine-cone decorating contest for elementary school students from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days, with assistance from high school students who live at St. Jude's Ranch for Children.
Photos with Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.
Admission is free.
Tickets for the guild's winter fundraiser, a chance to win a pair of tickets to Vegas PBS's Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea along with other prizes, will be available at the art show.

Medicare topic for speaker at Lakeview Terrace
Two representatives from the state's Aging and Disability Services Division will speak about Medicare at Lakeview Terrace of Boulder City, assisted living community, 180 Ville Drive, from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday.
The Nevada Senior Medicare Patrol will discuss how Medicare beneficiaries can protect their identity and detect and report improper payments in the Medicare system. Nevada State Health Insurance Assistance Program will provide general information about Medicare and open enrollment, which takes place now through Dec. 7
The program is being hosted with the Senior Center of Boulder City and will include a question-and-answer session.
All are welcome to attend.
Democratic club to hold mock caucus
The Boulder City Democratic Club will host representatives of the state Democratic Party for a mock presidential caucus at its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.
Anyone wishing to participate or learn more about the Feb. 20 Democratic caucus is welcome to attend.

Stories, crafts fill library's schedule of activities
Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:
Crazy 8s math club, 3:30 p.m. today in the board room. For those age 5-8. Reservations requested.
Teen movie, 5 p.m. today in the community room. "Jurassic World" will be shown. Bring blankets and snacks.
Science Exploration Club, 3:30 Friday in the community room. Explore science through stories, experiments and crafts. For children 3-6.
Teen and adult craft, 1 p.m. Saturday in the community room. Learn how to make a paper poinsettia wreath. Reservations and a $5 refundable deposit are due by 8:30 p.m. today.
Teen advisory group, 3 p.m. Monday in the community room. For those 12-18. Participants are asked for their opinions about programs, materials and projects in the youth services department.
Preschool story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For children 3-5 and their caregivers.
Anime club, 5 p.m. Tuesday in the board room. For those in junior high grades.
Teen and adult craft, 1 p.m. Nov. 14 in the community room. Learn how to make sugar scrub. Reservations and a $5 refundable deposit are due by 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
Note: The library will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.

Rescue Brews to benefit Beagle foundation
The Southern Nevada Beagle Rescue Foundation, in association with the Churchill Foundation, is partnering up for Rescue Brews at the Boulder Dam Brewing Co. on Sunday. The fundraising beer tasting event is scheduled for 2-6 p.m.
Tickets are $35 dollars for prepaid reservations and $40 dollars at the door, with all proceeds going to the Beagle Rescue Foundation and the Churchill Foundation.
Included in the ticket will be four-to-five beer tastings, one appetizer and one raffle entry.
Everyone participating in the event, including volunteers, will need to purchase a ticket.

Community Club plans potluck luncheon
Members of the Boulder City Community Club will gather for their monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Multiuse Building, 1204 Sixth St. It will be a potluck luncheon.
Plans for the upcoming Doodlebug Bazaar, which is scheduled for Dec. 5, will be discussed.

Tricky Tray fundraiser on tap Nov. 18
The Tricky Tray fundraiser presented by the Boulder City Community Education Advisory Board will be Nov. 18 in the gym at Boulder City High School, 1101 Fifth St.
Tricky Tray showcases themed baskets created by classrooms from all of the schools in the community, as well as area businesses and organizations.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with ticket sales. Drawings for the baskets will start at 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the event are granted to teachers through an application process to purchase instructional items they need that are not included in the schools' budgets.

Presidential election topic for Republican women
The Boulder City Republican Woman's Club will have its monthly luncheon Nov. 19 in the banquet room at Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino, 2800 Boulder Highway, Henderson.
A presidential candidate forum will be held, with representatives from the various campaigns speaking.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m. cost is $21 per person.

See Spot Run sets bake sale, work day
See Spot Run will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. until closing Nov. 13 at Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G.
A variety of gift items will be available.
The group that operates the dog park at Veterans' Memorial Park will have its 2016 calendar available. Showcasing pets playing at the park, it will be sold for $15.
It also will be selling special pavers to honor your pet.
All proceeds will be used to help maintain the facility.
On Nov. 14, the group will have a work day at the park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd. They will be there from 9 a.m. to noon.
Network for widows will meet Nov. 14
Boulder City Anew Women's Network will meet at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.
The group is for widows and provides information, resources and friendship. A free lunch also is served each month.

St. Christopher's hosting Harvest Bazaar
St. Christopher's Episcopal Church will present its annual Harvest Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the church, 812 Arizona St.
The bazaar will feature holiday crafts, gifts, decorations, homemade soups and baked goods.
There will be a raffle featuring prizes donated by area merchants. The drawing will be held at noon.
Tickets for the raffle will be available at the bazaar as well as outside Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G., the week before the event.
Art guild to present origami class
Boulder City Art Guild is presenting an origami clas from 1-4 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Spillway Lounge at Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St. Lynda Whitehair will teach the class and focus on holiday ornaments.
The class is limited to 15 people, and all supplies will be provided. Cost is $25 per person.
