Men’s basketball league begins postseason play

The Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department’s men’s recreational basketball league came to an end this week. Woodbury Law remains at the top after defeating Boulder Dam Credit Union and Flight S2S last week. They were led by high scoring from Nate Hafen and Jeff Johnson, according to Kelly Lehr, sports coordinator for the department.

Slow and Steady remains in a close second with over 20-point contributions from Michael Carbone and Sheldon Hutchins. B.C. Kids had an impressive week beating out Boulder City Family Mortuary in overtime, she said, adding that incredible outside shooting from Ryan McQuillan and Tyler Bletsch, as well as a strong inside performance from Chris Click, kept the game close with a 59-58 finish.

The double-elimination basketball tournament begins tonight with the fourth and fifth seeds tipping off against each other at 7 p.m. Games are played at the Boulder City Parks and Recreation gymnasium on Tuesday and Thursday nights through the month of February.

League standings: Woodbury Law, 8-1; Slow and Steady, 7-2; Boulder Dam Credit Union, 4-5; B.C. Kids, 3-6; Flight S2S, 3-6; Boulder City Family Mortuary, 2-7.
