Community invited to ice cream social at senior center

The Senior Center of Boulder City would like to invite you to their second annual ice cream social this Saturday from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

The social is being held in honor of the volunteers who donated their time and money to keep the center’s food pantry open to the public.

“We are just so grateful the food pantry is going to stay open,” said senior center spokesperson Sharon Zink. “We would not have been able to do it without the community’s help so we thought ice cream would be a nice way to give back.

The event is free to the public and the center encourages the whole family to come by and make their own ice cream sundaes.

“You don’t have to be a part of the senior center to come by,” Zink said. “We want everyone to come down and spend a fun afternoon with the community.

Zink said even the ice cream social is bringing out residents charitable nature, with the same volunteers who helped fill the senior center pantry now donating toppings for the event.

“The same people who helped us with the pantry are helping us with the ice cream social,” Zink said. “Volunteers are the reason our pantry is open and they are the reason we are doing this event this weekend.

The event is at the senior center located at 813 Arizona St.
