Lady Eagles top Basic, Democracy Prep on the court
Starting league play off strong, Boulder City School girls volleyball defeated Democracy Prep 3-0 on Aug. 27.
“It was goood to start league play with a win,” head coach Chad Robinson said. “It’s still early in the season, we’ll take whatever wins and momentum we can.”
Defeating Democracy Prep 25-9, 25-10, 25-13, Juliette Kelso led the way with seven kills and a block, while Bella Battistone added four kills, four serving aces and three digs defensively.
Kenley Poff and Lauren Mueller each added three kills, while Ally Jappe added five aces.
Laylani Gubler dished out 18 assists; while Addison Welbourne made five digs.
On a three-game winning streak, the Eagles defeated 4A Basic 3-1 on Aug. 25.
Defeating Basic 25-18, 20-25, 25-16, 25-18, Battistone had 11 kills with eight digs and two blocks, while Kelso generated six kills and four aces.
Gubler added five kills with 16 assists and eight digs, while Paityn Glines added eight digs and Erin Skramstad added seven digs.
“The Basic game was a good win,” Robinson said. “It’s always nice to beat a 4A team. They have some quality players on their roster.”
Looking to keep their winning streak alive, the Eagles will host rival Moapa Valley on Sept. 9.
