BC Review wins six state awards

During Saturday’s Nevada Press Foundation’s annual Awards of Excellence, the Boulder City Review came away with six awards in the rural category during a ceremony at Springs Preserve in Las Vegas.

“I’m proud of what we did this year, and I appreciate the recognition we received,” BCR editor Ron Eland said.

Entries for the 2026 awards must have appeared in print or online between April 1, 2025 to March 30, 2026 to be eligible.

The awards received include:

First Place

■ Ron Eland for Multiple Photo Essay or Gallery for coverage of the July 4 festivities.

■ Angie Gutting and David Sly, who are ad designers for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, for their BCR ad called Your Passport for Dining.

Second Place

■ Ron Eland in Business Spot News Story for an article on the Boulder City Company Store’s battle over a banner with Pink Box.

■ Ron Eland for Local Column.

Third place

■ Ron Eland in the News Obituary category regarding the death of longtime BCHS teacher Eleanor Phoenix.

■ Former BCR staff writer Bill Evans for Local Column.

“These awards reflect the critical role Nevada journalists play in keeping our communities informed, engaged, and connected,” Brian Allfrey, executive director of the Nevada Press Association and Nevada Press Foundation, said in a release. “We are proud to recognize the incredible talent and dedication across all divisions of Nevada media.”
