TRACK AND FIELD

Senior Sam Gomez made history earlier in the year when he shattered a 30-year school mark of 166 feet in the discus event at the Liberty Invitational back in March with a throw of 166 feet 7 inches. Fast forward two months and Gomez has only created distance since.

Heaving a career best 189 feet 11 inches this past week at the Division I-A state championship meet at Carson, Gomez repeated as discus champion for the Eagles, while placing second in the shot put event with a throw of 53 feet 10 inches.

Also providing a strong showing for the boys, senior Troy Wilborn took fourth place in the pole vault event with a leap of 12 feet, just 3 inches shy of a top-three finish.

For the Lady Eagles, juniors Kenadee Bailey and Jordyn Trobiani competed as well, both placing within the top 10. In the 400-meter dash, Trobiani took eight place with a time of 1:03.33 for Boulder City, while Bailey placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet 1 inch.
