Pumpkinman Triathlon in town Saturday

The 11th annual Pumpkinman Triathlon will take place Saturday in Boulder City and Lake Mead National Recreation Area. More than 2,000 people from across the United States, Canada, South America and Europe are expected to participate.

The triathlon will feature three distances: sprint, Olympic and half. The swim portion of the race will take place at Lake Mead. The bike course will start at Boulder Beach in the recreation area and end at Wilbur Square Park in downtown Boulder City, use the River Mountain Loop Trail and Nevada Way.

The running portion of the race will use the streets of Boulder City, with closures planned between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Colorado Street, Nevada Way from Colorado to Avenue I, Park, Utah and Wyoming streets, River Mountain Avenue, Adams Boulevard and Canyon Point Road.

Wilbur Square Park will be the center of activities and an expo from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Volunteer opportunities also are available. All volunteers will receive a shirt, post-race meal, race shirt (upon availability), and a volunteer fanny pack. Contact race director Cedric Keppler at info@bbsctri.com.
