Morelli tabbed as new varsity football coach

Chris Morelli, who coached the Boulder City girls’ flag football team to the Clark County championship, will be the next coach of the boys’ varsity football team.

Principal Amy Wagner confirmed the hiring Tuesday night.

Under Morelli, the Lady Eagles finished their season with a 22-0 record and defeated Centennial 7-6 during the championship game in February.

Morelli takes over for Alex Kazel, who resigned in February after seven years as head coach.

BC Parks and Recreation schedules clinics

The Boulder City Parks and Recreation’s popular youth baseball program has scheduled clinics for t-ball, coach pitch, boys baseball and girls softball. These programs teach beginning sports skills while helping youth build social skills in a fun team environment, according to Steve Corry, recreation coordinator for the department.

All players should register at the Recreation Department by April 9 and should attend a clinic. The fee is $52 for boys baseball and $39 for the other levels. Clinic dates are:

Kindergarten t-ball, 6 p.m. April 6 and 7 at Pratte Field. Children must be in kindergarten or 5 years old to participate.

First and second grade coach pitch, 7 p.m. April 6 and 7 and Pratte Field.

Third-sixth grade girls softball, 6 p.m. April 8 and 9 at Hemenway Field.

Third-sixth grade boys baseball, 7 p.m. April 8 and 9 at Hemenway Field.

Coaches and sponsors are still needed, Corry said.
