The summer men’s softball league with Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department finished regular season play July 23 and now heads to tournament action.
In last week’s action, Time to Mash claimed the top spot in the standings, wrapping up the season with a 17-3 record. Pit Stop and Duetto claimed the second and third seeds, respectively, for the tournament that begins today.
At the end of regular season play, the teams final standings were: Time to Mash, 17-3; Pit Stop, 16-4; Duetto, 13-7; Papillon, 9-11; Club Fitness, 3-17; and Credit Union, 2-18.
The coed league began tournament action Sunday. Eight close games were played opening night, with Pitches Be Crazy advancing through the winner’s bracket undefeated. The team squeezed out an 11-9 win, turning aside a comeback by Jack’s Place, allowing only a single run in the top half of the last inning to maintain its lead.
Jack’s Place plays the loser’s bracket survivor, Banging Pitches,” for the right to a rematch with Pitches Be Crazy. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at the ball fields at Hemenway Park, 401 Ville Drive.
Whoever wins the loser’s bracket game will have to beat Pitches Be Crazy twice to take the title away from the undefeated team.
