PGA Junior league to debut Sept. 2

A new PGA Junior Golf League will debut at Boulder Creek Golf Club with the hopes of helping junior golfers from all levels of experience learn the rules, etiquette and sportsmanship of the game.

The league, which begins Sept. 2, features team competitions that provide a popular, less stressful scramble format instead of stroke-play competition, said Patty Sullivan, recreation program director for Boulder City.

The league is open to children ages 7 to 17, and costs $80 for eight weeks. The fee includes a golf shirt, hat and sleeve of golf balls.

Those interested in joining must attend a mandatory player evaluation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Boulder Creek Golf Course, 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive. The evaluation will determine the player’s skill set in order to evenly organize the teams.
