Strong teams continue to dominate softball leagues

The strongest teams in Boulder City Parks and Recreation’s men’s and coed softball leagues continue to dominate their opponents.

In the men’s league, the top three teams, Time to Mash, Pit Stop and Papillon, swept doubleheaders from teams in the bottom half of the league. Papillon solidified its new hold on third place and outgunned Duetto 13-9 and 18-7.

Action resumes tonight at Hemenway Park, 401 Ville Drive.

In coed action, Jack’s Place solidified first with a 7-1 record heading toward tournament play after a sweep of Total Quality Pallets (14-13 and 14-9). The Duetto Ducks and Hammer’s Bar split a doubleheader, with Duetto pulling out a dramatic nine-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to salvage the nightcap, 14-13.

Regular season coed play concludes Sunday, with tournament competition starting Oct. 25.

Men’s league: Time to Mash, 9-1; Pit Stop, 8-2; Papillon, 7-3; Credit Union, 4-6; Duetto, 3-7; Boulder Tree, 1-9.

Coed league: Jack’s Place, 7-1; Hammer’s Bar, 5-3; Duetto Ducks, 4-3; Total Quality Pallets, 4-4; Serenity Salon, 3-4; Credit Union, 0-8.

 

Pilates classes offered

Lynn St. Pierre is teaching Pilates basic mat classes for Boulder City Parks and Recreation Department. Sessions are open to anyone 14 and older.

The class teaches the fundamental exercises that the entire Pilates method is built on. The class will focus on breathing techniques, core strengthening and stability of muscles, allowing participants to increase strength, balance and agility while relaxing and focusing their minds.

Classes are scheduled from 7:15-8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9:15-10 a.m. Tuesdays. All classes are offered in the old Department of Water and Power Building, 600 Nevada Way.

Cost is $25 per month for a specific session or $60 per month for any and all classes. Additionally, a $7 drop-in rate per class is offered.
