It’s time to nominate candidates for the Boulder City High School Athletic Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014.
Finalists will be inducted during a banquet this spring.
Nominations are open. Anyone in Boulder City can nominate a candidate to be inducted in one of three categories: former athlete, a coach or a contributor to the program. Athletes must have been graduated for a minimum of 10 years; coaches must be retired. Contributors can be nominated annually.
The biannual nominations for the Hall of Fame begin today.
“The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize outstanding individuals who have had a significant impact on athletics at BCHS,” Boulder City Athletic Director Regina Quintero said.
“Right now, we are trying to get the word out that the process is open for the 2014 nominees,” Quintero said. “We hope people will submit nominees and return their forms to the school as soon as possible so that we can compile a solid list.”
Nomination forms, due by Feb. 14, are online at the school’s website: www.schools.ccsd.net/bouldercity. Forms also can be found in the principal’s and the athletic department’s offices at the school. Anyone with questions can call the school’s athletic office at 702-799-8200, ext. 4120. Nominations can be mailed to: BCHS Athletics, 1101 Fifth St., Boulder City, NV 89005.
Once Quintero has enough nominations in each category, she will pass the list to a selection committee that will choose the Class of 2014 that will be announced and inducted in April.
Nominees not selected in the first year of their nomination will have their applications placed in an active file for future years. Renominations from previous years are not necessary, Quintero said.
The most recent Class of 2012 included: William “Bill” Bowie (coach/contributor), Lee Hafen (athlete), Dennis and Nancy Houser (contributors), Robert “Bob” Northridge (athletic director, coach and contributor), Chris Wells (athlete), Darcee Werly-Romero (athlete) and Brett Woodall (athlete).
