Sierra Selinger helps Lady Eagles’ track team earn second at home meet

Boulder City High’s girls and boys track and field programs were in action this past week, with the Lady Eagles taking second place in their Division I-A meet April 6, while the Eagles placed third overall.

Trailing only Sierra Vista (144) with an overall team score of 134 on their home course, the Lady Eagles, behind sophomore distance runner Sierra Selinger, were able to stay competitive.

Taking home first place in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter with times of 5:43.42 and 12:16.46, respectively, Selinger also placed second in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:37.95. Selinger’s 800-meter and 1600-meter results were personal bests for the sensational sophomore, while her 3200-meter result was a season best as well.

Senior Paige Buettner also had a nice showing for the Lady Eagles, placing first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.96 seconds and fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.133 seconds, while placing second in the long jump event with a leap of 14-11.

In the hurdle event, senior Lauren Mullins placed first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.07 seconds and second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.90 seconds, while junior Kenadee Bailey placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.89.

Rounding out the Lady Eagles’ efforts was sophomore Nicole Valle, who placed first in the shot put event and second in the discus event, while sophomore Maggie Roe placed first in the discus event and third in the shot put.

For the Eagles, the boys placed third with an overall score of 62, behind Sierra Vista (150) and Del Sol (106.5).

Senior Nicolas Pfeiffer headlined the Eagles’ efforts Wednesday, placing second in the long jump with a leap of 19-5 and third in the triple jump with a leap of 40-5, while placing fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.19 seconds.

Senior Troy Wilborn also had a nice showing in the pole vault event with a leap of 11-9, landing him in first place, while junior Justus Green placed second in the high jump event with a leap of 5-8.

Junior Sebastian Balmer concluded the Eagles’ efforts in the hurdle events, placing third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.56 seconds and fourth in the 110-meter hurdle with a time of 17.99 seconds.
