Laura Hubel/Boulder City Review
Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is sophomore Preston VanDiest, who plays first base on the Eagles’ baseball team. He had a .750 batting average in the state tournament May 14 and 15, going 6-for-8 in an 8-2 loss against Churchill County and a 7-6 loss to Elko. He is the son of Maria Hernandez and Ronald VanDiest.
