Laura Hubel/Boulder City Review
Each week the coaches at Boulder City High School nominate an athlete to spotlight for contributions made to his or her team. This week’s honoree is junior Sierra Selinger, who is captain of the girls cross country team. She overcame a midseason injury to repeat as regional champion with a career-best time of 19 minutes, 50 seconds. At the state meet, Selinger was the first runner from the south to finish, placing 11th overall against tough competitors from Northern Nevada. “She consistently leads and encourages the team in workouts and meets,” said coach Canaan Petersen. She is the daughter of Staci and Troy Selinger.
