Kudos to electrical department
Yesterday, a team of city engineers and electricians came out to my Boulder City residence on 5th Street to erect a new wooden power pole. The old one was rotting after a serviceable life and was in danger of toppling. The hole for the new pole had been augured, irrigation was sectioned off and the team arrived with the new pole.
I want to commend the team for their professionalism, courtesy and teamwork. They used both logic and creativity in installing the new pole in a confined space, while protecting the existing service lines, and the pole was up by the end of the afternoon.
Today, the city landscaper is here to remediate the irrigation, and the service lines will be connected to the new pole in a day or two. Kudos for a job well done!

Birch Society very American
I read Mr. (Dennis) Myers’ editorial in the Boulder City Review titled “What does ‘un-American’ mean?’ ” In it Mr. Myers mentioned the John Birch Society. I was appalled at Mr. Myers’ ignorance of the John Birch Society by his mentioning that the Koch brothers helped start it.
As a matter of fact, it was started by Robert Welch, another entrepreneur. Its motto is: “Less government, more responsibility, and — with God’s help — a better world.” More information about the Birch Society exists at jbs.org. Myers’ letter seems confusing to me. I can’t tell whether he is “un-American” or not. But I do know that the John Birch Society is thoroughly American. It is the only group America has that will eventually save it from the scourge of the advancing police state of world communism under the United Nations.
