Good Morning, Boulder City. I’ll be your tour guide on this ride-along with the Boulder City Police Department. My name is Tina Ransom and I’m a veteran dispatcher here in this fine city.
I was born and raised in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and have lived in some of the most beautiful areas of the world. I’ve called Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, California and Nevada home. I’m a country girl at heart and enjoy a big game hunt and a night under the stars beside a campfire. I’ve been the coordinator of the Boulder City Citizen’s Academy for several years and look forward to reigniting that worthwhile project in the next several months.
Please remember that the holiday season is notorious for being a stressful time. Expectations are over-the-top, schedules get triple booked, and our blended families and friends get more than a little overwhelmed from all the togetherness. The season often brings stress and depression along with the demands of celebrating and ordinary tasks that never seem to end.
Remember there are folks who are coping with the first holiday without a loved one, the pressures of unemployment or underemployment, geographical separations of family, and many of the other curves that life throws our way.
Take time each day to just stop and regroup. Accept that you aren’t able to be all things to all people, reach out to others if you feel lonely or isolated, set aside differences with friends or family until a more appropriate time for discussion, stick to a budget, plan ahead, learn to say no. Don’t abandon healthy habits, and seek professional help if you need it.
There’s no shame in asking for help and a whole lot of heartache (and gathering of bail money) can be avoided by simply staying aware of the situation.

Call of the week: While it’s unfortunate, most marriages contain a secret clause that states making the other partner miserable for short periods of time is mandatory. But this is not generally a police matter.
This is by no means a complete accounting of all police and fire activities. Many of the everyday activities have been eliminated from this report. We have foot patrols, vehicle identification number checks, alarm calls, 911 hang ups, service of protective orders, warrant services, etc., that are not media material. We hope this gives you a good idea of the tasks that our department provides along with regular patrols.
We appreciate your assistance in helping us make Boulder City a safe place to live and work. See you next week.
