Woman’s body found at Lake Mead; homicide suspected

Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas has launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead at Lake Mead on Monday morning.

The body was found near the desert area of the special events beach at Boulder Basin.

Metro said the woman’s injuries were consistent with a homicide. No apparent motive is known, but it appears to be an isolated incident, according to a police press release.

This is the 97th homicide investigated by the department this year. The identity of the woman, as well as the cause of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Splash pad reopens Friday

The splash pad at Veterans’ Memorial Park is expected to reopen Friday after being closed for safety repairs.

According to Parks and Recreation Department representative Julie Calloway, the splash park’s safety padding came loose.

The parks department wanted to install more padding to ensure the area would be safe for the rest of the summer.
