Relay race to include Boulder City streets
Boulder City residents should be on the lookout Saturday for participants of the Las Vegas Ragnar Relay. They are expected to be on Boulder City streets from about 2-10 a.m. Saturday, according to a race organizer.
The relay is an overnight race that tests a person’s limits as a team sport. Teams of six or 12 run about 200 miles in a relay-style event, with 36 legs of varying length and difficulty.
The Las Vegas race begins at Mount Charleston and travels through Red Rock National Conservation Area, Las Vegas, Henderson and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Each participant will run three times, with race legs ranging from 3-8 miles.

Volunteers sought for veterans department
Several volunteers are being sought by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services to help distribute marketing materials, attend networking and community events, assist in a registration process and document electronic and analog data.
Volunteers will be a part of the Americorps VISTA program, serving as community liaisons in rural and urban areas across Nevada. Volunteers will serve veterans communities by linking eligible individuals with services and opportunities that can improve their lives. The volunteer efforts are designed to impact underserved, unemployed, disadvantaged and, in some cases, homeless veterans by helping them in locating shelter, sustenance, health benefits and federal compensation and pensions, if eligible.
Volunteers are needed immediately and must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or GED.
