We are steaming forward to our favorite time of year – the end of daylight saving time (not)! Sunday at 2 a.m. will mark the event for this year! I can be sure that I will either be early or late for any and all appointments. Then consider those areas that do not observe DST and that is even more fun to the time game. Just about the time I get in sync, it’s time to mix it up again. Can you imagine how fun it would be if individual states decided to “unsubscribe?” So, on that bright note, we invite you to enjoy the extra hour of sleep and remember to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday morning.
Nov. 20, Vagrancy: Male subject is warned about sleeping in the dugout area at 8:46 a.m. in the 800 block of Avenue B.
Suspicious: The female caller states that a male tried to take their two bikes but dropped them when they yelled at 6:15 p.m. in the 800 block of Utah St.
Thought for the day: Bike locks might be a good investment!
Oct. 21. DUI: The party was over long before the driver tried to go off-road at 4:14 a.m. in the 2300 block of Buchanan Blvd.
DUI: The female driver thinks the “switcheroo” with the male passenger will keep her safe from the trip to Henderson at 8:31 p.m. in the 1000 block of Nevada Way.
Thought for the day: The record today is Drinkers 0 – Cops 2!
Oct. 22. Domestic: Another example of the mistaken belief that if you call first they will arrest the other guy at 3:12 a.m. in the 1300 block of Denver St.
Burglary: The female climbing in the window is caught red-handed making entry to retrieve her forgotten keys from her own home at 8:27 a.m. in the 1300 block of Darlene Way.
Thought for the day: That was one surprised tenant!
Oct. 23. Assist: The blind corner allows for two golfers to meet by accident – and the golf carts are the only ones that escape unscathed at noon in the 1500 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
Assist: The tow truck in the process of retrieving a downed aircraft is now on fire at 1:19 p.m. in the 1500 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
Thought for the day: The golfers don their Band-aids and are back in business.
Oct. 24. Fire: The palm tree makes a 40-foot torch in the 600 block of Otono Drive.
Fight: The caller said one man kicked the other man’s pickup at which time there were punches flying, then both drove away at 1:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Buchanan Boulevard.
Thought for the Day: Evidently, the boxers were able to come to a (dis)agreement and were gone before the “refs” got there.
Oct. 25. Accident: The ground fog turns deadly with an early morning accident at 7 a.m. in the area of mile marker 50 on U.S. 95.
Suspicious: The young male in the clown costume carrying a baseball bat realizes quickly that his outfit was in “poor taste” at 5:39 p.m. in the 600 block of Paloma Drive.
Thought for the Day: Common sense seems to be in short supply today.
Oct. 26. Suspicious: The caller said she will stay in her hiding place until the slamming door is checked at 1:17 a.m. in the 1200 block of Potosi Street.
Traffic Hazard: Officers respond for the umpteenth time to herd the sheep back to the park and clear the highway of “looky-loos” at 12:32 p.m. in the area of Ville Drive and U.S. 93.
Thought for the Day: I think we are almost needing to employ a full-time sheep herder.
Call of the Week: Suspicious Vehicle: The caller is concerned about a vehicle that seems to frequent a parking area, but the owner explains that he just comes from North Las Vegas every day to charge his batteries at a nearby outlet at 2:52 p.m. in the 1900 block of Buchanan Boulevard.
