We would like to invite you to join us for the second annual Hero &First Responder Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in and around the Bicentennial Park gazebo. This is a good chance for you to meet and become familiar with your local law enforcement officers.
Many of us meet on less-than-perfect occasions and it can prove very enlightening to meet on a positive note. Get to know the men and women who serve on a daily basis to keep your family and possessions safe.
We all (even me) have our stories of a time when things didn’t go the best they could have involving a law enforcement situation. But, truth be told, those times are few and far between. The officers and support staff work diligently in the attempt to provide our residents with the best possible service in, sometimes, the worst possible situations.
Thank you Boulder City residents and workers for doing your part to make this city a place to be proud of.
Aug. 31. Trespass: The caller states the neighbors are having a loud verbal disturbance outside, which ends with one of the family members being officially trespassed from the property at 7:08 p.m. in the 600 block of Avenue H.
Missing: The report is of a missing juvenile and the parent has only a general idea of where the child was going at 9:31 p.m. in the 600 block of Christina Drive.
Thought for the day: The missing juvenile eventually ends up being transported halfway to meet the other parent, who was inbound from another state. This could have ended very badly.
Sept. 1. See person: The party in the lobby has come to consult with an officer about returning to his home now that the temporary protective order expires at 8:22 a.m. today in the 1000 block of Arizona Street.
Assist: Officers standby while the owners wait for a locksmith to arrive when their door accidentally shut with the vehicle running (and air conditioner on) with a small child inside at 7:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Buchanan Boulevard.
Thought for the day: Two days in a row with potentially bad issues involving juveniles.
Sept. 2. DUI: The driver is hungry but dinner will have to wait at 2:04 a.m. in the 1600 block of Boulder City Parkway. Disorderly conduct: The woman is causing a disturbance and the reporting party states she is easy to identify as she is dressed like a rainbow and is wearing one shoe at 11:17 a.m. in the 1000 block of Nevada Way.
Thought for the day: Rainbows should always have on both shoes.
Sept. 3. Animal: The caller states the nonstop barking is turning the family into nondog people at 5:02 a.m. in the 500 block of Wyoming Street.
Disturbance: It seems the parents are not well-behaved during the game and need to be removed at 3:13 p.m. in the 800 block of Avenue B.
Thought for the day: Good example of behavior? And we wonder where kids get their ideas.
Sept. 4. Family disturbance: The caller just reunited with an ex-boyfriend and he is, once again, driving drunk at 4:11 p.m. in the 700 block of Capri Drive.
DUI: The driver won’t be bothering anyone else tonight nor putting lives in danger on the road at 4:14 p.m. in the area of El Camino Drive and Gloria Lane.
Thought for the day: Nothing says I love you like an arrest and a restraining order.
Sept. 5. Welfare: The caller would like the welfare checked on a woman dressed in a shirt and men’s underwear at 12:59 p.m. in the 900 block of Adams Boulevard.
Family disturbance: The main complaint is bad-mouthing and one party is not satisfied to find it is not against the law at 10:29 p.m. in the 800 block Avenue A.
Thought for the day: Isn’t life funny some days?
Sept. 6. Drunk: The caller states there is a man passed out behind the building with lots of empty alcohol containers at 2:08 p.m. in the 1000 block of Nevada Way.
Suspicious: The elderly woman is confused and appears to have injured herself but advises she only wants the officers to provide her with cigarettes and marijuana and she will be fine at 5:46 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wyoming Street.
Thought for the day: I’m not sure I’ve heard of anyone requesting the police provide them with drugs before.
Call of the week: Welfare check: Officers are asked to check on an elderly man who has had an unusual amount of activity in his financial affairs. Officers arrive and the man answers the door in the nude but complies with the officer’s request to cover himself and puts on a hat. He agrees to locate undergarments and reports that he has, indeed, been indulging in expensive activities. He later decides the events will be legal in Nye County and he will wait until his next payday to continue at 4:38 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 500 block of Avenue G.
