1JAMMIN’ IN THE PARK: The first weekend in May welcomes the return of the 40th annual Boulder City Spring Jamboree featuring arts and crafts, live music, a classic hot rod car show, booths from local businesses and food vendors. There will be face painting, the “Aerial Assault” trampoline show and more at the year’s biggest community event. Festivities will take over Bicentennial, Wilbur Square and the Escalante parks, beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 5 p.m. on Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday. 2HONORING THE FLAG: The Valley of Fire chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its 24th annual flag retirement ceremony to dispose of flags that are beyond repair. The event will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. The DAR will be joined by community groups from around the area including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Green Valley High School’s madrigal singers, Scottish Rite and the Boy, as well as Girl, Scouts.

3BLUES AND BREWS: The Rick Berthod Band returns to the Boulder City Brewing Co., 453 Nevada Way, Saturday with its howling brand of soulful blues. Berthod has shared stages with B.B. King, Greg Allman, the Yardbirds and more. Once hailed as “one of the West Coast’s premier bands,” the smoky licks from this free show will pair well with a litany of libations.
