Boulder City’s most talented residents will showcase their abilities Saturday night during the fifth annual BC’s Got Talent show.
Twenty acts, ranging from vocalists to musicians to a flag twirler will perform in the amphitheater at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd. Admission to the 7 p.m. show is free.
“It’s tremendously fun,” said Justin Keogh, who serves as master of ceremonies for the evening and helps coordinate the show. “I’m delighted this is so appealing to the community.”
One of the contestants is a woman in her 50s who will play the piano and sing. According to Keogh, she has no prior experience onstage and being a performer was on her “bucket list.”
Open only to residents of Boulder City, the competition will be divided into two categories: those 16 and younger and those 17 and older. However, that could change if judges determine someone is worthy of winning a prize.
The top prize to be presented is $100.
During the contest, amateurs will perform side-by-side with professionals, Keogh said.
During the event, 17 of the acts will be judged. The others will feature the top three performers from last year’s event and a special guest.
Boulder Dam Credit Union and Friends of the Arts sponsor the talent contest.
Although it is too late to audition for this year’s contest — there is already a waiting list with 10 acts on it — Keogh said there are ample volunteer opportunities.
Carla Morgan, who sets up the sound system and coordinates sound checks with each performer, could use some help, he said.
He also said he would like people to consider getting ready for next year’s show now.
“We could use some more variety; the crazier and zanier the better,” Keogh said.
