Trunk or Treat set for Saturday evening

Calling all superheroes. You are needed to have fun, get treats and watch a movie as the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Trunk or Treat: Movies in the Park Saturday at Veterans’ Memorial Park.

In honor of the evening’s movie, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” children are encouraged to dress as superheroes for the costume contest.

“It’s a fun, safe event for children,” Chamber of Commerce CEO Jill Rowland-Lagan said. “They don’t have to go door to door, and its geared for trick-or-treaters.”

Rowland-Lagan said the cars will be parked on the grassy area near Pratte Field so children can walk on the sidewalk to gather their treats.

The evening’s festivities are set to start at 5 p.m.

The costume contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.; the movie is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Rowland-Lagan said there will be a special costume contest for superheroes along with the traditional Halloween costume contest.

The event also will feature a variety of activities for children including a bounce house, bungee jump and maze.

There will be food vendors at the park.

Those who will be offering treats from their trunks can enter the park at 3:30 p.m. to get set up. As in past years, there will be a contest for the best decorated trunk.

Admission is $10 per car.

The celebration concludes the chamber’s summer movies in the park series.
