Teachers Honored as ‘Most Inpirational’

The end of the high school year was not just a time of celebration for all the new graduates and for those looking forward to the delights of a summer vacation. On June 8 in the high school’s cafeteria, it also was a time to present the annual Eagle Award to Boulder City High School’s most inspirational teacher. The top award recipient receives an Eagle trophy with a U.S. eagle gold coin. The runners-up receive a plaque with a U.S. eagle silver dollar coin. The awards are sponsored by locals David Baker, Jon Barth and Glenn Nakadate. The recipient is chosen from a list submitted by a vote of all the students with accompanying comments.

This year for the first time, there was a tie for the top honor by English teachers Steve Roe and Molly Spurlock. The runners-up were U.S. history teacher Canaan Petersen and English teacher Leslie Ringen. Pictured from left, is Petersen, Spurlock, high school principal Kent Roberts holding the award for Roe, and Ringen.

A rad evening in downtown Boulder City

Saturday night, a large crowd donned their best 1980s attire, which included an abundance of neon-colored clothing as part of the aptly-named Neon Nights. The block party was hosted by Main Street Boulder City and served as a make-up event for their planned New Year’s Eve celebration, which was canceled due to impending weather. Attendees filled the restautants and bars along the steet, while listening to 80s music played by DJ Mike Pacini.
