Seen on Scene: At the BCHS Grad Walk

On the same day the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City celebrated its 35th anniversary, it received a very special gift to honor that milestone.

It’s arguably Boulder City’s biggest event of the year, drawing tens of thousands of people to town and has been doing so for more than 60 years.

For nearly a decade, Dr. Christina Vela has not only been the CEO of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children but often a pseudo-mom to many boys and girls who have call the Ranch home. This has come by way of offering a sympathetic ear, the proverbial shoulder to cry on or being their biggest cheerleader.

This past school year, discussion among many parents of school-aged children, as well as teachers and administrators, was what may come of talk of school consolidation.

As a way to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, Calvary Chapel of Boulder City will be hosting an event to do just that.
