Kelso earns bachelor’s degree from Colorado university
Michael Kelso, a 2013 graduate of Boulder City High School, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines on Dec. 15. He had an economics and business minor.
During his time at the university, Kelso was part of the Orediggers football team. In 2015, he was awarded the Newcomer of the Year and the Special Teams Player of the Year. He was named to the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter Academic All-Colorado First Team for football and was a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference academic honor roll member. He also earned a Piesman Trophy nomination, an award given to a lineman who throws, catches or runs with the ball.
In 2016, he was the second player in program history to be nominated for the Cliff Harris Award, which is given to the best defensive player from NCAA Divisions II, III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He was also an honorable mention All-RMAC pick.
Throughout his college career, Kelso was on the dean’s honor roll and participated in multiple service projects, including competing in the American Society of Civil Engineers’ steel bridge regional competition.
Kelso has been accepted into the master’s program for engineering and technology management and will continue his education at the School of Mines. He is the son of Patrick and Lisa Kelso of Boulder City.
Hance named to Curry College’s dean list
Elizabeth Hance of Boulder City has been named to the dean’s list at Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, for the fall 2017 semester.
To qualify, students must earn a 3.30 GPA, have no incompletes and have no grade lower than a C for the semester.
Ward named to president’s list at Gonzaga University
Justine Ward of Boulder City has been named to Gonzaga University president’s list for fall semester 2017. Students must earn a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.
