The Silver State Chapter recently announced that Marilyn Adair has received an appointment from Daughters of the American Revolution National Society. Adair has been appointed to the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service advisory committee for Southern Nevada. The three-year appointment runs from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2016.
The voluntary service was founded after World War II by the predecessor of the Veterans Affairs Department as a program to provide volunteer services for our nation’s veterans while they are cared for by the VA health care facilities. The Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service is the largest volunteer program in the federal government. These representatives disseminate information, work with educational programs for their local DAR chapters, and participate in fundraising for veterans’ projects and for other local community veterans’ support programs.
Adair serves on the Nevada State Executive Board as recording secretary, Nevada State Membership chairwoman, Chapter Revitalization and Development commissioner, Nevada State Conference 2013 chairwoman, and the Southern Nevada chapter’s Joint Luncheons chairwoman 2012-13, and the Founders and Heritage Club Tea chairwoman. She is an honorary chapter regent for life, chapter registrar, and has held six other positions on the chapter board and committees.
