Pastel artist to share experiences at museum event
Soft pastels with Linda V. Campbell will be showcased at tonight’s Third Thursday at the Museum presentation in the Segerblom Theatre inside the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum. It will begin at 6 p.m.
Campbell, an artist in residence at Red Rock National Conservation Area, said she likes the “velvety texture” of pastels, which allow her to capture the colors and essence of her subject quickly, especially when working outdoors because light conditions change rapidly.
A native of Montreal, Campbell earned a degree at the Museum of Fine Arts Academy in Montreal before spending more than 10 years working for an art and design studio in Toronto.
After moving to the United States, she began working as an interior designer.

Doctor, radio host to address Republican women today
The Boulder City Republican Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting today at the Railroad Pass hotel and casino.
The meeting begins at 11 a.m., with lunch at 11:45 a.m.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Daliah Wachs, who specializes in family medicine and hosts a radio show on KWON.

Red Mountain Choir’s ‘Masquerade’ on tap Friday, Saturday
Red Mountain Choir will present “Masquerade” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Elaine K. Smith Center, 700 Wyoming St.
The choir is conducted by Lisa Gillespie, with accompaniment by Ashley Peel.
The Garrett Singing Club, conducted by Pamela Barlow and accompanied by Kendra Howard, will be part of the show.
Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children and students. They can be purchased in advance at the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce, 465 Nevada Way, or at the door.

P.E.O. to hold fundraising ‘Fiesta’ Saturday evening
Chapter K of Boulder City, P.E.O. International, will present its spring fundraiser, Fiesta Ole!, Saturday at the Boulder City Elks Lodge, 1217 Nevada Highway.
The event will include dinner, live entertainment and a raffle.
Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., with a catered Mexican dinner to be served at 6 p.m.
Tickets will be sold in front of Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G, on Friday.

AAUW’s chocolate, wine-tasting event to be held Saturday
American Association of University Women of Boulder City will present its semiannual chocolate and wine tasting from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the hotel.
Proceeds from the event benefit AAUW’s fund for local scholarships.

Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:

n Preschool story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For children 3-5 and their caregivers.
n Toddler story time, 10 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. For children younger than 36 months and their caregivers.
n Teen time, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. For those 12 and older. Teens are invited to play games, work on homework or just socialize with each other.

Medicare fraud topic for Retired Public Employees’ speaker
The Boulder City chapter of the Retired Public Employees of Nevada will hold its monthly membership meeting at 11 a.m. April 23 at The Homestead of Boulder City, 1401 Medical Park Drive.
Guest speaker will be Lori Powers with Nevada Senior Medicare Patrol, who will discuss how to protect yourself from Medicare fraud.
Additionally, an update on the state Legislature is planned.
Members will gather for a no-host lunch at an area restaurant after the meeting.

Support group for those in grief meets at senior center
The Senior Center of Boulder City is offering a Surviving Grief support group that meets from 1-2:30 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the center, 813 Arizona St.
The group is designed to help those struggling with a loss of any kind. The Rev. Sandy Johnson of Boulder City United Methodist Fellowship is leading the group.

Boulder City High School alumni luncheons are held at The Restaurant in the Boulder Dam Hotel at noon the third Thursday of each month.
Graduates who have held their 50th reunion celebrations are invited to attend.
American Legion breakfast served Thursday mornings
All veterans and their families are invited to the American Legion’s varied menu breakfast from 6-8:30 a.m. Thursdays at the American Legion Hall, 508 California Way, between Boulder Bowl and Grace Christian Academy. There is no cost to attend, but donations are welcome.
Legionnaires and eligible veterans are invited to the American Legion meeting at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the hall.
