VFW to raffle bicycle in memory of charter member
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cpl. Matthew A. Commons Memorial Post 36, will raffle off a Dynacraft Alpine Eagle 26-inch mountain bike in memory of post charter member Arthur Monetti.
Tickets can be purchased from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in front of Albertsons, 1008 Nevada Highway.
The winning ticket will be drawn after the Fourth of July parade outside the multiuse building in Broadbent Park. The winner does not have to be present.

St. Christopher’s church sets annual spring sale for Saturday
St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church will host its annual spring sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 812 Arizona St.
The sale will feature used books, hardware, clothing, furniture, housewares and more.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the church’s outreach and assistance projects.

Community Club luncheon scheduled for April 23
The Boulder City Community Club will hold its monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. April 23 in The Spillway downstairs at the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.
New officers will be installed.
Cost of the lunch is $9 per person.

Lend A Hand, Silver Rider offering shopping trips to Henderson
Lend A Hand has partnered with Silver Rider to provide rides to Henderson for its clients twice a month on Wednesdays.
The two-hour shopping trips will be in the morning, with rides offered for a donation.
This month trips are scheduled for April 15, with the bus traveling to the Wal-Mart on Marks Street, and April 29, with the bus traveling to Jo-Ann fabric and craft store, Bed Bath & Beyond and Costco.

Library schedules variety of activities, events
Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:
n Science Exploration Club, 3 p.m. Friday in the board room. Explore science through stories, experiments and crafts. For children 3-6.
n “I Survived” book club, 3:30 p.m. Friday in the board room. Participants are asked to read “I Survived: The Shark Attacks of 1916” by Lauren Tarshis before attending. The session will include a discussion, activity and craft related to the book.
n Teen and adult craft, 6 p.m. Monday in the community room. Those 12 and older are invited to learn how to make a book purse. Advance registration and a $5 refundable deposit are required by 5 p.m. Friday.
n Preschool story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For children 3-5 and their caregivers.
n Toddler story time, 10 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. For children younger than 36 months and their caregivers.
n Teen time, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. For those 12 and older. Teens are invited to play games, work on homework or just socialize with each other.
n Family story time, 6 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. There will be science, crafts, games, Legos and stories.

Doctor, radio host to address Republican women
The Boulder City Republican Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting April 16 at the Railroad Pass Casino and Hotel.
The meeting begins at 11 a.m., with lunch at 11:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Daliah Wachs, who specializes in family medicine and hosts a radio show on KWON.
Cost of the luncheon is $21. Reservations are required and must be made by noon today(April 9).

Art guild to raffle works by festival exhibitors
In preparation for its 30th annual Fine Arts Festival to be held April 18 and 19, Boulder City Art Guild is holding a scholarship artwork raffle throughout the month.
A variety of works donated by festival exhibitors will be raffled off, with proceeds being used to provide scholarships to Boulder City High School students who plan to study fine arts in college.
Some of the pieces to be awarded will be on displayed at Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G, and guild members will be selling tickets outside in the weeks prior to the art festival.
Tickets for the raffle also are available at the guild’s gallery inside Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.
