Test site worker to speak at American Legion meeting
American Legion Post 31 will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday at the post, 508 California Ave.
Guest speaker will be Legionnaire Dick Wyman, who will share his experiences of working at the Nevada Test Site in the 1960s.

See Spot Run is having a fundraising bake sale all day Friday in front of Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G. The nonprofit organization operates the dog park at Veterans’ Memorial Park.
Library schedules variety of activities, events
Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:
■ Will and board game day, 1 p.m. today in the community room. For people of all ages.
■ Graphics club, 3 p.m. Friday in the board room. For junior high school-age students.
■ Craft, 1 p.m. Saturday in the community room. Those 12 and older are invited to learn how to make a tablet/eReader cover. Advance registration and a $5 refundable deposit are required by 8:30 tonight.
■ Preschool story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For children 3-5 and their caregivers.
■ Toddler story time, 10 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. For children younger than 36 months and their caregivers.
■ Teen time, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. For those 12 and older. Teens are invited to play games, work on homework or just socialize with each other.

Dr. Sketchy’s to hold ‘Gangsta’ Glam’ drawing session
Dr. Sketchy’s will present a “Gangsta’ Glam” life drawing session at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Milo’s Cellar, 538 Nevada Way.
Guest model Lily Sprite will pose in a gangsta’-themed setting for the 2½-hour session. Participants must bring their own art supplies.
The session will be in the downstairs cellar.
Admission is $10 at the door.

Art guild to raffle works by festival exhibitors to fund scholarships
In preparation for its 30th annual Fine Arts Festival to be held April 18 and 19, Boulder City Art Guild is holding a scholarship artwork raffle throughout the month.
A variety of works donated by festival exhibitors will be raffled off, with proceeds being used to provide scholarships to Boulder City High School students who plan to study fine arts in college.
Some of the pieces to be awarded will be displayed at Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G, and guild members will be selling tickets outside in the weeks prior to the art festival.
Tickets for the raffle also are available at the guild’s gallery inside Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.

Red Mountain Choir’s ‘Masquerade’ on tap April 17, 18
Red Mountain Choir will present “Masquerade” at 7:30 p.m. April 17 and 18 at the Elaine K. Smith Center, 700 Wyoming St.
The choir is conducted by Lisa Gillespie, with accompaniment by Ashley Peel.
The Garrett Singing Club, conducted by Pamela Barlow and accompanied by Kendra Howard, will be part of the show.

Lend A Hand to honor volunteers, offers worker training class
This month Lend A Hand will honor its volunteers, offer training for new volunteers and present an educational seminar for senior citizens with low vision or blindness.
The nonprofits’ annual volunteer appreciation day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14.
A training class for those interested in volunteering will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 21. Advance registration is requested.
The forum about low vision is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 23. Advance registration is requested.

Doctor, radio host to address Republican women
The Boulder City Republican Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting April 16 at the Railroad Pass Casino and Hotel.
The meeting begins at 11 a.m., with lunch at 11:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Daliah Wachs, who specializes in family medicine and hosts a radio show on KWON.
Cost of the luncheon is $21. Reservations are required and must be made by noon April 9.

Lend A Hand, Silver Rider offering shopping trips to Henderson
Lend A Hand has partnered with Silver Rider to provide rides to Henderson for its clients twice a month on Wednesdays.
The two-hour shopping trips will be in the morning, with rides offered for a donation.
This month’s trip are scheduled for April 15, with the bus traveling to the Wal-Mart on Marks Street, and April 29, with the bus traveling to Jo-Ann fabric and craft store, Bed Bath &Beyond and Costco.
