Republican women to hear secretary of state today
Members of the Boulder City Republican Women’s Club will hear from Barbara Cegavske, Nevada’s secretary of state, when they gather for their monthly luncheon meeting today in DeSimone’s Steakhouse at the Railroad Pass, 2800 S. Boulder Highway. The session will begin at 11 a.m., with lunch served at 11:45.

Professional entertainers to perform at St. Jude’s
Win-Win Entertainment will present its monthly program at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude’s St., at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Launched earlier this year, the program brings a professional Las Vegas entertainer to the ranch to perform, as well as host interactive workshops, and question-and-answer sessions.
The entertainers vary each month but are always family-friendly. The can include magicians, jugglers, puppeteers, actors, singers, dancers and musicians.

Bingo event to aid See Spot Run
Bow Wow Bingo is a new fundraiser that will be presented Saturday by See Spot Run.
The nonprofit will host the game and a silent auction from 6-9 p.m. at Chilly Jilly’z, 1680 Nevada Highway.
The evening’s festivities will include six bingo games, a raffle ticket and dinner. Those who bring a donation of dog or cat food will receive an extra ticket; the food will be donated to Emergency Aid of Boulder City.

Library to host story sessions for kids and families, show film
Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming week. These include:
■ Lego challenge, 3:30 p.m. today in the community room. The session is designed for those age 6 and older.
■ Drop-in story time, 10 a.m. Friday in the board room. For children age 5 and younger and their caregivers.
■ Movie, 5:30 p.m. Friday in the community room. “Hidden Figures” will be shown.
■ Art club, 1 p.m. Saturday in the community room. For all ages.
■ Baby lap-sit story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For those age 2 and younger and their caregivers.
■ Book club, 7 p.m. Tuesday in the community room. For those age 18 and older.
■ Toddler story time, 10 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. For children younger than 36 months and their caregivers.
■ Positive Action for teens, 3 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. The nationally recognized, evidence-based program improves academics, behavior and character.
■ Family story time, 6 p.m. Wednesday in the community room.

Lake Mead continues Park Week celebration with free admission
Lake Mead National Recreation Area has a variety of special events happening in the coming week. These include:
■ Ranger program: “Bats: Fascinating Creatures of the Night,” 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Learn from the scientists who monitor bat activity in the park about the animals that migrate to the park and live there year-round. For reservations, call 702-293-8990.
■ 15th annual Rage triathlon, Saturday. About 900 athletes are expected to participate in the race.
■ National Park Rx Day and outdoor fun, Sunday. The day has been set aside to promote prescribing parks and nature to improve human health.
Note: Entrance fees will be waived Saturday and Sunday in recognition of National Park Week. Fees for camping, lake use or other concessions still apply.
Help needed to honor veterans at city cemetery
Members of American Legion Post 31 and its auxiliary, Unit 31, are seeking community residents to help them place crosses and flags on the grave sites of veterans at the Boulder City Municipal Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd., for Memorial Day. There are more than 400 veterans buried there.
Flags will be placed starting at 10 a.m. May 27. In addition, they will need assistance removing the flags at 4 p.m. May 29.
