Art guild partners with lodge for show

Tuesday marks the final day for Southwest USA, an exhibit of fine art presented by members of the Boulder City Art Guild in conjunction with the Hoover Dam Lodge, 18,000 U.S. Highway 93.

The success of the first collaboration prompted Hoover Dam Lodge to double the amount of exhibit space for this show, which now features works by 25 artists on display at the resort.

Flower arranger to present talk

Boulder City Garden Club members will meet for tea and cookies, 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.

Marci Brown, an expert in flower arranging, will offer an “Introduction to Floral Design.” The program will begin at 7 p.m., all interested people are welcome to attend.

Holiday closures between story session, club meetings at library

Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:

■ STEAM club, 3:30 p.m. today in the community room. Explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through stories, crafts and activities. For those 6-11.

■ Drop in story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For all ages.

Note: Starting this week the library will be closed Sundays through Labor Day and will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Myriad special events on tap at Lake Mead

Lake Mead National Recreation Area has a variety of special events happening in the coming week. These include:

■ Ranger Program: Singing Songs Together, 7 p.m. Saturday at the Boulder Beach amphitheater. Mike Kershaw, along with his acoustic guitar, will lead campers in a song-fest which includes traditional children’s tunes, today’s hits and some of his own originals. ■ Ranger Chat: Public Lands – “Treasures of Southern Nevada,” at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m, Sunday at the Alan Bible Visitor Center, 10 Lakeshore Road. Attendees will learn about the variety of public lands located along the Colorado River in Southern Nevada. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

See Spot Run to present ‘pup crawl’

See Spot Run will present its seventh annual poker run, pup crawl and silent auction June 11.

The event, scheduled from 5-9:30 p.m., will include stops at several local pubs.

Participants can visit in any order and collect cards, turning in their best high or low hand by 9 p.m. Winners will be announced at 9:30 p.m. at the Boulder Dam Brewing Co., 453 Nevada Way.

Pubs and eateries participating in the event are: Boulder Bowl, Boulder Dam Brewing Co., The World Famous Coffee Cup, The Dillinger Food and Drinkery, Evan’s Old Town Grille, Grandma Daisy’s, Jack’s Place, Milo’s Cellar, Oasis Boutique Motel, Southwest Diner and Tony’s Pizza. Tickets are $20 each, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization’s dog park at Veterans’ Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd.
