Republican women to hear candidates The Boulder City Republican Women’s Club will hold its monthly luncheon meeting today in the banquet room of the Railroad Pass hotel and casino, 2800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Doors will open at 11 a.m., with the lunch starting at 11:45.
Congressional candidates Michelle Fiore and Michael Roberson, who seek to represent the 3rd District, will be the guest speakers.
See Spot Run sets bake sale, annual meeting
See Spot Run will hold a fundraising bake sale from 9 a.m. until closing Friday at the Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G.
In addition to baked goods, a variety of gift items will be available including pavers to honor your pets.
Also on the group’s schedule is its annual meeting, set for 7 p.m. March 30 at the Elaine K. Smith Center, 700 Wyoming St. All interested people are welcome.
Artist to be honored at Saturday reception Boulder City Art Guild will hold a reception for artist Jan Schaeffer from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at its gallery inside the Boulder Dam Hotel, 1305 Arizona St.
Schaeffer is an award-winning artist and art instructor.
Light refreshments will be served.
The reception coincides with Schaeffer’s exhibit, Adventures in Abstract, which is on display throughout the month in the gallery.
Asbestos research focus of meeting
Naturally occurring asbestos will be the topic of a meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Christian Center, 571 Adams Blvd.
Speaking at the meeting will be researchers from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Montana State University. They will discuss the creation and goals of the Center for Asbestos Research in the Environment, the research proposal process and time line, and five projects currently proposed.
There also will be a question-and-answer session.
The goal of the research center is to better understand the location, potential exposures and potential risks of naturally occurring asbestos in Southern Nevada.
All are welcome to attend, but space is limited.
Trinkets and Treasures on tap for club
The Community Club will hold its monthly meeting at noon March 24 in the dining room at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St.
A pizza luncheon will begin the session, which will be followed by the annual Trinkets and Treasures sale.
Guests and potential new members are welcome to attend.

Church seeks donations for Country Store
Grace Community Church is now accepting donations for its annual Country Store.
Donations of clothing, hardware, furniture and household items will be accepted.
They can be brought to the church at 1100 Wyoming Ave. from 9-11 a.m. on Mondays.

Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:
— STEAM club, 3:30 p.m. today in the community room. Explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through stories, crafts and activities. For those ages 6-11.
— Science exploration club, 3:30 p.m. Friday in the community room. For those ages 3-6.
— Keeping Kids Fit club, 3:30 p.m. Friday in the community room. For those ages 6-11 and their caregivers. The six-week program will use fun activities to teach families about the importance of exercise and healthy eating. Advance registration requested.
— Craft hour, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the community room. For all ages.
— Anime club, 5 p.m. Tuesday in the community room. For those in junior high grades.
— Crazy 8s math club, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. For those in kindergarten through second grade. The eight-week, hands-on program will include activities to get children excited about math. Reservations required.
— Family story time, 6 p.m. Wednesday in the community room.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area has a variety of special events happening in the coming week. These include:
— Lake Mead BioBlitz, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Boulder Beach. Volunteer citizen-scientists are needed to help identify and count plants and animals in the park. Participants need to bring a picnic lunch.
