Club to hear from head of county Republican Party
The Boulder City Republican Woman’s Club will meet today in the banquet room at Railroad Pass hotel and casino, 2800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
Guest speaker will be Ed Williams, chairman of the Clark County Republican Party. Also speaking will be Andy Matthews, a candidate for Congress representing District 3, which includes Boulder City.
Doors open at 11 a.m., with lunch served at 11:45.

Appreciation lunch planned by Community Club
Boulder City Community Club will hold its monthly appreciation luncheon for members Jan. 28 at Boulder Creek Golf Club, 1501 Veterans Memorial Drive. The luncheon begins at 12:30 p.m.

Information for caregivers focus of event
Lend A Hand will present a caregiver fair from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.
During the session, those who care for family or friends will learn about available respite services and other resources.
There is no cost to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Library’s schedule includes story sessions
Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd., has several activities planned for the coming weeks. These include:
— Lego challenge, 3:30 p.m. today in the community room. The session is designed for those age 6 and older.
— Relaxation techniques, 6:30 p.m. Monday in the community room. For those age 13 and older. Call 702-293-1281 for more information.
— Drop-in story time, 10 a.m. Tuesday in the board room. For all ages.
— Anime club, 5 p.m. Tuesday in the board room. For those in junior high grades.
— Toddler story time, 10 a.m. Wednesday in the board room. For children younger than 36 months old and their caregivers.
— Teen time, 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room. Those age 12 and older are invited to come play games, work on homework or just hang out.
— Family story time, 6 p.m. Wednesday in the community room.
— Craft, 1 p.m. Jan. 30 in the community room. Participants will learn to make a T-shirt bag. Reservations and a $5 refundable deposit are required by 8:30 Jan. 28.

Ranger programs on tap at Lake Mead
Lake Mead National Recreation Area has a variety of special events happening in the coming week. These include:
— Ranger hike: Bats in the Moonlight, Saturday along the Historic Railroad Trail. Join a ranger for the hike on a full-moon night to learn about the many Mojave Desert bats, including the Mexican free-tailed bat, that call the recreation area home. Reservations required.
— Ranger chat: “Wingspan Myths,” 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m Sunday at Alan Bible Visitor Center, 10 Lakeshore Road. Learn about the wingspans of a variety of desert birds and how they survive in the environment.
